"Our deepest fear is not that we are
inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure" --
Marianne Williamson Marianne Williamson is an internationally acclaimed spiritual teacher.
Marianne teaches us to believe in the power of miracles and encourages us to connect with our spiritual selves
and let it guide our lives.
A Special Note to Unity Center from Marianne: Dear Friends, Founding father John
Adams, second President of the United States, advised all generations to use the July 4th holiday as a day to remember America's
“first principles.” He foresaw, or at least hoped for, a mindful rather than a mindless celebration of our nation's
birthday.
While I'm not the hugest fan of how things are often done in Washington, I'm a passionate fan of America's
founders and American history. The founding of our country was not just a major event in the history of politics; it was a
major event in the history of humanity, representing an extraordinary possibility for the self-actualization of a human being.
The only purpose of freedom is that we feel free to embody the greatness that lies within us. It seems everyone is asking these days, “What is next for me now? How can I
manifest the better life trying to emerge from within me? And how can I best serve the world?”
That questioning
applies not only to our personal lives, but to our collective life as well.
What does it truly mean to be a person,
living among other people? And what does it mean to be a nation, living among other nations? Such questions do not just answer themselves, and it is only
when we ask big questions that big answers make their way into our consciousness.
Having witnessed the heartbreaking
spectacle of Iranian citizens risking so much for the chance to be free, let us remember the Biblical message that “What
man intends for evil, God intends for good.” Let us respond to the oppression we have witnessed with an ever more sincere
dedication to freedom. Let us dig deep into our hearts this year for an understanding of ourselves, and the world, which itself
will help constitute a rebirth of freedom in our time.
I am delighted to be speaking at Walnut Creek Unity
Church on Friday night, July 3, to discuss our lives, our country, and the meaning of July 4th at such a momentous and remarkable
time as this.
I hope to see you there.
All my best, Marianne Williamson
